A Birthday Card with lots & lots of Gold

A friend of ours is turning 40 this Saturday and we stopped by Tuesday to hand over the gift and a home made card for the occasion.
As he unwrapped the present right on the spot it is now safe to post this on the blog.

For my card I started out by stamping black cardstock with a border "Dots" stamp to create the dotted background for the card. The first layer is stamped with White pigment ink. The second layer a little bit off on purpose and this time with Gold pigment ink. This creates an interesting shadow effect.

The front panel of the card with the sentiment is made by stamping multiple times with two different striped stamps. This time I used Versamark ink and heat embossed it with gold powder.

When the heat embossing was done, I made a die cut window in the white panel. Here I adhered a white piece and stamped the sentiment with black ink. To finish off the front panel I added a dashed line to emphasize the window frame.

Below you can see my original sketch for the card with my comments to choice of cardstock, embossing and ink. I find it easier to work when I have a good idea of how I want to build up the card from the beginning.

Hope you got inspired :o)
