Sort of Gesso Resist

This is Day 3 of the "Clean & Simple 4" class.

Today is about inked backgrounds and for my first card today I have tried out Julie Ebersoles "Gesso Resist" technique. But I do not have any Gesso...a bit of quick thinking....I wonder if Distress Paint can be used instead. In my opinion it turned out pretty well!

I chose to work on Mixed Media paper as the Distress Paint is pretty wet. First I put some Distress Paint down on my craft sheet. Then squeezed my striped background stamp down in the paint puddle. This way I did not get a full coverage of the background stamp, which was my intention.

Then I stamped on the Mixed Media paper and let i air dry.

Then I did as Julie Ebersole. Took my ink blending tool and applied some Distress Ink. After that I took a brush and added water to activate the Distress Ink. This I heat set with my heat gun and let it dry.

The Distress Ink actually covered a bigger area than I had in mind, so to break the colour mess I stamped a leafy stamp. The black seemed to work perfectly as a contrast, which is why I also added the sentiment as a Dymo strip.

The sentiment is Danish and means "Missing You" which is perfect for a Operation Write Home card.

With this card I am participating in:
Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes
Addicted to Stamps and More! - Clean & Simple
