Die-cutting: DYI stamps

Day 2 of the Online Card Class "Clean & Simple 4"  is all about die-cutting.

Shari Carroll shows how to use fun foam to make your own stamps to your dies which has no coordinating stamps. I have seen this technique shown before but has never actually tried myself.

I just had to try it out today using the Dragonfly dies again. These dies does not come with any coordinating stamps, so it was a perfect set to test with.

ETA: Here is a VIDEO of it.

I die-cut both of the dragonfly dies in fun foam. I then first inked up the background die-cut with pigment ink and stamped this.

Then I decided to ink up the outline die with VersaMark ink in order to heat emboss with black powder.

Before being able to heat emboss I had to ensure the pigment ink was completely dry. Otherwise the black embossing powder would stick. I first used my heat gun and I afterwards used my Powder Tool to remove any static from the cardstock and clinginess from the pigment ink.

To make the front panel with the dragonflies pop more against the white card base I used my ink blending tool to apply some Distress Ink to the background.

The sentiment is made on my Dymo and means "Happy Birthday / Congratulations".

With this card I am participating in:
Cure for the Monday Blues #41 (colour inspiration)
