Testing Deco Foil today

Last weekend I attended a crafting convention and got tempted to buy some Deco Foil. I have been so curious about what the fuss is all about. So I decided to test out the foil with my laserprinter and laminator.

I got so tempted I bought 3 colours......
  • Gold (obvious for Christmas and weddings)
  • Turquoise (love at first sight with the colour)
  • Pumpkin ('cause it looked a lot like bronze)

I really did learn a thing or two about this technique. This I made a little video about :o)
In it I let you know my findings and recommendations when trying out this technique with foil. Sorry, my international crafty friends, but this video is only in Danish.

I'll write a bit more later (including images used).
Gotta go to dinner at Mr. T's mother in five.

ETA: As promised I will write a bit more inclusive information about the images used.

One important thing I did learn in this process is that the printed image with the laser printer MUST be completely black. There must not be any lines which fades out in greyish colour. Otherwise the foil will not "attach" to the lines.

Two out of the three images are found on Pinterest, which makes finding the original source pretty hard sometimes.
  • The motorcycle - found on Birds Cards via Pinterest.
  • The little sentiment tag image - In the video I mention it is a digi stamp from Paper Smooches. Soooo Sorry, this is not correct. It is in fact a free digi stamp from Avery Elle, found on their challenge blog.
  • The deer head - found on Pinterest. The source link says quadoceangroup.com, but I am pretty sure that is not correct. If anyone know the source, please let me know.
Have a splendid evening.
Pia :o)

  1. Super fed video Pia, og en rigtig god gennemgang og forklaring må jeg nok sige. Godt gået.
    God scrapbookingdag/week-end til dig.

  2. I also got this foil, in silver and gold.
Tried it with my printer. Which saw better times. It's OK for my regular printing needs, but apparently is not for using foil. One thing I noticed - if run it through laminator two or tree times - the result is better. But not perfect if printed image is not good.
