Tutorial: Bow with Envelope Punch Board - Part 3

Do you like bows? Well, I certainly do! Today I want to share with you how you can get even more out of your ”Envelope Punch Board”. Who would have thought that it is possible to make the prettiest bows with it. Personally I just love it when you get more for your money worth.
Are you ready to make bows? The tip I am sharing today is originally from Nadine Hoessrich. If you prefer Danish, you can find a link to my tutorial in Danish at the end of the tutorial.
I have tried out Nadine’s tip and made sure to document of it with loads of pictures during the process. As usual I couldn’t just leave it at one bow size. I had to try and make a larger bow as well. So at the end of my tutorial I am sharing two bow sizes with you.
Before we start I suggest you pick out a piece of double sided paper. A bow is just so much more beautiful if it has colours on the inside too. Depending on your own confidence you might want to start out making a test bow out of a piece of scrap paper. And as I always advice you to, please read the tutorial carefully from beginning to end before you start.
TUTORIAL - STEP BY STEP
1.
You will need 3 pieces of paper for the little (standard) bow:
Main bow: 13 x 2,5 cm.
The snips: 8 x 2,5 cm.
And a strip of approx. 0,7-0,8 cm wide and a minimum length of 5 cm.

2.
Mark the center line of the two largest pieces. You can either fold the pieces or make a score line.
I recommend the score line. At no point do you need for the pieces to be folded in order to make the bow.
3.
I start off with the smaller piece (8 x 2,5) which will be the ends of the bow. First I punch on the middle of the piece from both sides.
4.
Then I punch both ends.
5.
The piece will end up looking like this.
6.
Now I take the largest piece (13 x 2,5). Here I also punch on the middle from both sides.
7.
And here I also need to punch the ends BUT this time from the side. Look at the picture. Here you can see how I punch from the side and only a “half” punch.
8.
Now the two largest pieces are ready. We can begin to assemble the bow.
9.
I start with the largest piece first. To help the paper bend I use a pen to shape the paper. This way I get a soft bend for the bows main part.
To get the ends to stick I have used a piece of double sided tape approx. 1½ cm long.
10.
Here I have made the main part of the bow.
For the ends of the bow I have used the same trick with the pen to get a little soft bend of the ends.
11.
Now we can finish assembling the bow. Again I have used a piece of double sided tape to stick the main bow part on top of the ends. Place the two pieces so the slim mid part fits perfectly together.
12.
Lastly I take the last slim (0,7-0,8 cm wide) piece of paper. This is used for center piece and to hold the bow together. I have used double sided tape on one side of the paper on a length of approx. 3-4 cm. This I have folded around the mid section of the bow. Make sure to have the end part on the backside of the bow. Now the bow is done!
13.
As you already know I had to make another size bow. This time a little larger bow. On this picture I have begun assembling the bow.
The measurements for the big bow you can read at the end of this tutorial.
14.
And here we have the two bows side by side.
Standard size bow (used on the card):
Main part of the bow: 13 x 2,5 cm.
Ends of the bow: 8 x 2,5 cm.
Middle section of bow:  approx. 0,7-0,8 cm wide. Length of minimum 5 cm.
Big bow:
Main part of the bow: 15 x 3,5 cm.
Ends of the bow: 9,5 x 3,5 cm.
Middle section of bow: approx. 0,8 cm wide. Length of minimum 8 cm.
